Private property and impound towing for apartments and plazas in Broward County — Apex Towing

Private property towing is the one job on this site where the person who calls and the person whose vehicle moves are two different people. That makes it the most regulated work we do. Maximum rates for nonconsent tows are set by the county, not by us , and the rules about signage, notice and what may be charged exist to protect the driver. This page is written for both sides of it.

For the property

For Property Owners And Managers

Signage comes before the first tow

Florida requires posted notice at the property before a vehicle can be removed without the owner's consent. Getting the signs right is the difference between an enforceable removal and a claim, and it is the first thing to sort out rather than the last.

Written authorization, every time

Someone with authority over the lot authorizes each removal or the standing arrangement that covers it. That record is what protects the property when a driver disputes the tow afterwards.

Call-out or standing arrangement

Some properties call when they find a vehicle. Others want a regular sweep of fire lanes, reserved spaces and expired tags. Both work, and which one suits you depends on how much of a problem you actually have.

Records that survive a complaint

Time, location, plate, condition and where the vehicle went. Complaints come days later, and a removal you can document is a removal that stands up.

If Your Vehicle Has Already Been Towed

Call the number on this page and we will tell you where the vehicle is, what it will cost and exactly what to bring. Have photo identification and proof the vehicle is yours , such as the registration or the title. Getting there without those is a wasted trip.

If you reach your vehicle before it has actually been removed, the rules are on your side. Under the Broward ordinance you cannot be charged at all unless a complete mechanical connection has already been made, and even then the charge is capped at no more than half the posted rate for the tow. That is the county's rule, not a courtesy.

What The County Sets, And What We Do Not

Broward County fixes the maximum rates for nonconsent towing and immobilization by resolution of the Board, and no operator may charge above them. Those figures cover the tow itself, storage per twenty-four hours and the administrative fee, and they are reviewed each year, so the current schedule is the one that applies rather than any number printed on a website.

Boca Raton sits in Palm Beach County, which publishes its own schedule. If your vehicle came off a lot north of the county line, the applicable rates are Palm Beach County's rather than Broward's. Ask for the current schedule and we will point you at the county's own published table rather than our version of it.

Questions

Private Property Towing, Answered

I arrived while the truck was hooking up. Do I still have to pay?

Under the Broward ordinance, if you get there before the service is complete the vehicle is released to you. There is no charge unless a complete mechanical connection has already been made, and where one has, the fee is limited to no more than one half of the posted rate for that tow. Ask to see the posted rate.

Where is my vehicle and what do I need to bring?

Call and we will tell you where it is and what it will cost before you set off. Bring photo identification and something that proves the vehicle is yours, usually the registration or the title. If the registered owner is not the person collecting it, say so on the phone so we can tell you what else is needed.

Who sets the price for a tow off private property?

The county does. Broward fixes maximum rates for nonconsent towing by resolution, covering the tow, storage per twenty-four hours and the administrative fee, and no operator may charge above them. Boca Raton falls under Palm Beach County, which publishes its own separate schedule.

How do I set my property up for this?

Start with the signage, because nothing can be removed without proper posted notice being in place first. After that it is a question of who authorizes removals and whether you want call-outs or a regular sweep. Call and we will walk through what your property needs.

Property Manager Or Vehicle Owner?

Either way, one number. If your vehicle has been towed, call and we will tell you where it is before you travel. If you manage a lot, contact dispatch and we will start with the signage.
